  • What types of therapy does Dr. Kasler offer?
    • Dr. Kasler offers individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults as well as parent-child therapy for children ages 7 and under.
    • Dr. Kasler does not offer couples or marital therapy, substance abuse counseling, nor therapy for divorce/custody issues and trauma.
  • Does Dr. Kasler provide evaluations for adults?
    • No. Dr. Kasler only provides assessments or evaluations for children and teens.
  • What disorders does Dr. Kasler treat?
    • Dr. Kasler treats depression, anxiety, grief, parent-child relational problems, disruptive behaviors, ADHD, autism, and general adjustment problems. 
    • She does not treat substance abuse, trauma, divorce/custody issues, nor marital problems.
  • What insurance does Dr. Kasler accept?
    • Dr. Kasler accepts Anthem (BCBS), Cigna, and Kaiser Permanente.
    • Dr. Kasler also accepts self-pay clients and provides superbills so they may seek reimbursement through their insurance.
  • What is a psychological assessment or evaluation?
    • Psychological assessments may be requested in order to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Assessment includes an initial consultation or clinical interview; behavioral observation; caregiver and/or teacher report; and may include measures of cognitive ability (IQ), academic achievement, visual-motor skills, expressive and receptive language skills, executive skills, emotional and behavioral functioning, adaptive behavior, and social skills. Assessments are typically conducted over the course of three appointments. The first appointment lasts approximately 45 minutes and involves gathering background information in order to determine testing needs.  The second appointment is the longest at two to five hours of direct face-to-face time and involves the actual administration of test measures. The third appointment occurs approximately two weeks later, lasts for approximately 45 minutes, and involves a detailed discussion of the test results and a written report for your records. 
  • What does Dr. Kasler test for?
    • Dr. Kasler can assess for learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, anxiety, mood disorders, and behavior disorders, to name a few. 
    • Dr. Kasler does not conduct evaluations for sexual abuse, custody disputes, parental fitness, nor other forensic needs.
  • Does Dr. Kasler conduct Deeming/Katie Beckett Waiver evaluations?
    • Yes, Dr. Kasler conducts evaluations for Katie Beckett or Deeming Waivers.
  • Does Dr. Kasler prescribe medication?
    • No, psychologists in the state of Georgia do not have prescribing privileges.  If you are seeking medication, please consult your primary care physician, pediatrician, or psychiatrist.
  • How do I get added to Dr. Kasler’s wait list?
    • You must complete and return the new patient paperwork in order to be added to the wait list. You may obtain this paperwork by contacting the office and requesting an appointment. Dr. Kasler only offers a wait list for testing/evaluations. You will not be added to the list until you have returned the paperwork.
